Health Journal
In 2005 I founded a consumer health care magazine titled Health Journal which was in print from May of 2005 until November of 2019 and now remains active as an online magazine. At its peak Health Journal had 4 editions across Southeastern Virginia and Richmond with a circulation of over 80,000 magazines per month. During this time period I served as Publisher, developing the editorial vision and researching topics to cover. I also served as Creative Director, making final decisions on the look, feel and pace of the magazine. Health Journal is where I transitioned from a hobbyist photographer to a professional.
Publishing the Health Journal placed me in an incredibly unique position to learn and stretch my creative abilities to their limits. In the process I had the honor of mentoring and advising many creative talents, including editors, writers, art directors and other emerging photographers. Over the years I wrote dozens of pieces and photographed hundreds of notable people for editorial spreads and advertising campaigns. Below you’ll find a small sample of covers I’ve produced.
